It's finally here! It's finally here!
"What?" you might ask.
A blog! Yes, my dear readers (all 3 of you), I have finally broken down the wall between me and the rest of the world. I have created a place where I can communicate my thoughts and my feelings with you. I know none of you care, but... that's not my problem. I'm going to force all the Robert on you that you can stand. I shouldn't warn you - for plausible deniability purposes - but I will. Prepare to be mind-raped by the master mind-rapist.
Now that we've gotten the pleasantries out of the way, let's get to the meat and potatoes of what this blog is all about. The only New Year's resolution that I made this year was this: I want to get something that I have written published. I've dreamed about being a writer all my life, but I'm now 26 years old and haven't really done a damn thing about it. Sure, I've been published once before, but, much to my heartbreak, it has only been in a vanity publication. I want more than that. I want the world to hear my voice and the stories I have to tell. There are so many things I have to say, but no audience to hear them.
So what does all this have to do with starting a blog? Well, to begin with, a blog is a valuable tool to build an audience. Blogs have vast viral marketing appeal. One person reads and tells 3 of their friends, etc., and suddenly you have to move to a bigger server because Blogger is threatening to ban you based on the amount of traffic you are generating (keeping my fingers crossed). But more importantly, no matter how big of an audience, it gives you a place to hone your craft. I can take the stories I write, put them up here, and get feedback on them. People can tell me what they loved or hated and I can take that to heart, and challenge myself to do even better next time.
So that's the main two reasons I decided to get off my ass and start a blog.
Expect another post soon to begin my first story.
